1. OBJECTIVE
To provide ensure the removal of the microorganisms from the surface without any health hazard
2. SCOPE
It is applicable for spillage of solid and liquid media in which growth observed during microbiological testing

4. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Handle the Media very carefully
• Wear the rubber hand gloves and nose mask
• Media preparation and media decontamination (used media discard) activities shall not be done simultaneously.
5. PROCEDURE
5.1 Upon spillage of the solid or liquid media containing growth, wear surgical gloves and collect solid media and remove excess fluid from the surface with the help of cotton piece.
5.2 Spray 70% Isopropyl alcohol and leave it for 5 minutes.
5.3 Mop the surface twice using cotton piece with 2.5 % Dettol or 1% Hexita or 10 % Aldekol -H.
5.4 Let it dry.
5.5 Discard the media with cotton piece as per S.O.P.
