1. OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for operation, Cleaning and calibration of Hot Plate
2. SCOPE
This procedure is applicable to Quality Control Department
3. RESPONSIBILITY
• Officer QC
• Manager QC
4. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Proper handling the instrument.
• Don’t switch on the main board with wet hands
5. PROCEDURE
5.1 OPERATION
5.1.1 Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from any dust.
5.1.2 Connect the main supply of instrument.
5.1.3 Switch “ON” the instrument.
5.1.4 If required adjust the required temperature with temperature knob.
5.1.5 Keep the beaker (having sample) on the plate and wait for heating.
5.1.6 Dip the magnetic stirrer in the beaker and start the stirring by the knob.
5.1.7 Stirring speed should be controlled by “knob” to slow, middle and high.
5.1.8 Switch “OFF” the instrument after completion of work.
5.2 CLEANING
Frequency: one a week
5.2.1 Ensure that instrument is Switch “OFF”.
5.2.2 Switch OFF the main supply
5.2.3 Clean the apparatus with lint free cloth
5.2.4 Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from any dust.
5.2.5 Connect the main supply of instrument for use.
5.3 CALIBRATION
Frequency: One in a month
5.3.1 Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from any dust.
5.3.2 Connect the main supply of instrument.
5.3.3 Switch “ON” the instrument.
5.3.4 Adjust the required temperature with temperature knob.
5.3.5 Keep the beaker (having sample) on the plate and wait for heating.
5.3.6 Use only hot plate with stirrer.
5.3.7 Use the pre calibrated thermometer for calibration ranging up to 300C
5.3.8 Dip the calibrated thermometer at one side of the beaker
5.3.9 Record the both set temperature and temperature on thermometer
5.3.10 Similarly repeat the procedure for different temperatures
